Sambalpur: A joint team of Civil Supplies and Weights & Measures departments and police today raided two petrol pumps in Sambalpur over alleged fuel theft by using electronic chips.
Following complaints of fuel pilferage, the team inspected the fuel dispensing machines at Mudipada and Kulukhakani in the town, said Mihir Panda, Sambalpur SDPO.
Besides, the squad also verified whether any electronic chip was installed in the machines to manipulate the display of quantity of fuel transferred to a customer.

Earlier, the officials of Civil Supplies and Weights & Measures departments had sealed nozzles of two dispensing machines at a petrol pump in Cuttack in December last year. They had also seized nearly 40 to 50 litres of fuel suspected adulterated fuel from the same petrol pump.
