Four held for tying, thrashing elderly couple

Jajpur: Four persons were arrested today for tying and torturing an elderly couple in Ranpal village under Panikoili police limits of Jajpur district.

As per sources, an old woman of the village was tied up by her relatives and beaten over some past land dispute. When her husband came to the rescue, he was also tied up to a nearby tree.

On receiving information, Panikoili police officials reached the spot and rescued the couple.

Based on the complaint of the old couple, police arrested four persons including two women and have forwarded them to court.

"The old couple said that they are regularly harassed by the accused persons in connection with a land dispute," Panikoili IIC said.
