Bhubaneswar: With the SDJM Court, Bhubaneswar rejecting the bail plea of SUM Hospital owner Manoj Nayak today and allowing the commissionerate police to take him on two-day remand from tomorrow, the next step of the police will be to probe into the monetary transactions of the Shiksha O’ Anusandhan (SOA) Charitable Trust.
Talking to OTV today, Director General of Police (DGP) KB Singh said as per the instruction of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) on black money, police will look into the funding part to tap the sources from where huge money was mobilised for construction of infrastructure for the hospital and educational institutions.
“The hospital is presently run by SOA Charitable Trust and the trustee is Manoj Nayak who looks after all the businesses on behalf of the Trust. Apart from Nayak, the two other trustees are also accountable. We are also looking into this angle,” the DGP said.
To a question on what action police would take against Saswati Das, wife of Manoj and another trustee, he said the police had issued lookout circular last night through the CBI and Intelligence Bureau (IB) which compelled Nayak to surrender. “Police will also bring his wife for interrogation,” he pointed out.
“The main focus of our investigation would be on the work and responsibility of the trustees. If we find any irregularities we will arrest the two trustees including Nayak’s wife,” Singh added.
