Cuttack: Heavy damage was caused to properties of HDFC bank’s Jholasahi branch after a major fire broke out at the bank on Friday morning.
According to sources, the fire broke out at the bank at around 4 am today. A security guard working there informed fire officials about the incident after he noticed smoke billowing out of the bank.
Fire officials rushed to the spot and doused the flames. They found there were no fire safety equipment installed in the bank.
Surprisingly, no alarm was sounded after the fire broke out in the bank. Sources blamed the lack of safety equipment and alarms at the bank as the main cause of loss caused by the mishap.
On being contacted, bank officials refused to comment on the mishap.
The exact reason behind the fire mishap and loss due to the accident is yet to be ascertained, said a fire official.
