Balasore: Yet another farmer suicide allegation came from Pakharabada village under Sadar police limits in Balasore district today. The deceased was identified as Sudam Khatua.
According to family members of Sudam, he had taken Rs 1.45 lakh loan on a 10 percent interest rate from a landlord of his village. He had used that money to grow crops in his farm, but as his crops were damaged he was unable to pay back the loan.
As the moneylender scolded and offended him for not paying back the money, Sudam consumed poison yesterday evening, alleged his family members.
Later he was shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack in a critical condition. He breathed his last while undergoing treatment in the hospital today.
On the other hand the district administration is silent on the suicide allegation.
