Bhubaneswar: In a major crackdown on food adulteration racket, Commissionerate police busted a fake ghee manufacturing unit at Bangalisahi under Laxmisagar police limits late on Sunday night.
Acting on a tip-off, a special team of the Commissionerate police conducted raid on the factory near Cuttack Road and arrested six persons from the spot.
Nearly two quintals of adulterated ghee which was being prepared using refined oil and borax powder has been seized.
It is suspected that the unit was operating in a clandestine manner and adulterated ghee was then sold in the name of reputed brands in the market of Bhubaneswar and other parts.
Senior officials of Commissionerate police informed that already a detail probe in this connection has started and more information about the operation of the racket will be ascertained only after interrogation of accused is completed.
