Koraput: In an unfortunate incident, an expectant mother delivered a stillborn child on riverside in Koraput district on Friday after failing to avail ambulance services to reach hospital due to lack of proper amenities including proper road connectivity.
The woman, a resident of Kondagaon village under Dasmantpur block of the district, complained of labour pain yesterday. Soon, her family members called 102 ambulance and asked it to wait on other side of the river due to absence of motorable roads.
With no boats available, one of her kin carried her in his arms to cross the river. Though they managed to cross the river, they could not avail ambulance services as it had returned after waiting for some time. However, she delivered a dead child on the riverside.
Later, the woman was taken to the Dasmantpur Community Health Centre (CHC) and her condition was reported to be stable.
