Ex-Ranji captain of Odisha might lose license for rash driving

Cuttack: Police today released the former captain of Odisha Ranji team Haladhar Das on a personal recognizance (PR) bond while seeking cancellation of his driving license after the cricketer was detained for reckless driving which caused a series of accidents on Sunday.

The Cantonment police have written to the Regional Transport Office (RTO) for cancellation of the cricketer's driving licence for a period of 3 months for driving under the influence of alcohol.

"We are taking steps to cancel his license. If we find him repeating the act, we will arrest him," said Cantonment Police IIC, Biswajit Mohanty.

Police had, on Sunday, detained Haladhar for reckless driving in an inebriated condition causing series of accidents in the city.

He was chased and intercepted by locals at Chahata road after he injured several people by hitting their vehicles between Mangalabag square and Chahata Ghat. Later, the locals handed over Haladhar to Bidanasi police.
