Engineer on duty tied to pole, thrashed by villagers

Mayurbhanj: An engineer of Betanati block under Baisinga police limits in Mayurbhanj district faced the wrath of people when he went to Jugal village to review progress of various department works. He was beaten mercilessly after being tied to a pole.

Engineer Ramesh Narayan Kar had gone to Jugal village to review the progress of various ongoing works, during which a heated argument ensued between the engineer and some locals over an inquiry report. Later, some angry villagers allegedly tied Ramesh to a pole and started beating him mercilessly. A few of them also threatened him of dire consequences by brandishing a sharp weapon.

On receiving information, police rushed to the spot and rescued the engineer from the clutches of the mob. He was later admitted to the Baripada hospital.
