Cuttack: Eminent litterateur Pathani Patnaik passed away today at his residence at Kanika Chhak in the city. He was 89.
Family sources said Patnaik was suffering from age-related illness over the past few years.
Born in Gunthunisahi in Khurda, Patnaik had authored more than 30 prose and critiques. Moreover, he had written hundreds of books on children literature, short stories, journalistic articles and translation books.

In recognition of his profound contribution to Odia literature, he was conferred Kendriya Sahitya Akademi Award in 2010 and Odisha Sahitya Akademi Award in 1993. He was also a recipient of Sarala Samman, Sahityabharti Samman including others.
The literary fraternity mourned his death. Several eminent personalities visited his residence today to pay their last respects to the departed soul.
