Keonjhar: A 60-year-old woman sustained critical injuries after an unidentified man shot her with an arrow at Panaspala under Karanjia police limits in Mayurbhanj district on Sunday.
According to sources, the woman identified as Nandi Gouda was plucking leaves in a nearby forest when an unidentified man shot her with the arrow which pierced into her body.
She was rushed to Karanjia sub-divisional hospital and later shifted to Keonjhar district headquarters hospital after her condition deteriorated.
“The upper part of her stomach sustained grievous injuries. We have now referred her to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack for better treatment as her condition is critical,” Dr AK Dey, surgery specialist of Keonjhar district headquarters hospital said.
However, the exact reason of the attack has not yet been ascertained. “We don’t know the man who attacked her. My sister has no previous enmity with anybody,” brother of the victim said.
