Bhubaneswar: In what could emerge as an embarrassment for the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD), the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Friday summoned party's Dharmasala MLA Pranab Balabantaray to appear before it over his alleged links with arrested gangster brothers- Sushil and Sushant Dhal Samant (D-brothers).

Balabantray's transport company, Pranab Minerals and Transport is now under the ED scanner over various business and financial transactions with D-brothers.

The Dharmasala BJD MLA has been directed to appear in person on May 7. He has been asked to furnish all documents and audit reports of his transport company from 2005 to 2010, informed sources.

Earlier, BJD councillor of Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC), Ranjita Biswal was also arrested for her alleged links with the notorious gangster brothers.

Biswal was arrested for her alleged involvement in the conspiracy hatched by D-brothers to kill four persons, mostly contractors and others who were once part of their criminal gang.

Ranjita Biswal was also accused of supplying firearms to one Mrutyunjay Nayak alias Miku who was earlier arrested on March 4 for trying to kill contractor Bijay Kumar Pal of Subhadrapur under Sadar police limits of Cuttack.
