Bhubaneswar: BJP's Debanand Mohapatra on Tuesday knocked the doors of Election Commission of India (ECI) over discrepancies in data furnished by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on his poll expenditure during 2014 general elections.
The saffron party's defeated Hinjili candidate moved the ECI demanding immediate hearing on the matter.
It is alleged that CM, who won from the Hinjili Assembly constituency in 2014, had furnished incorrect data in his poll affidavit filed before the ECI.
Earlier in October last year, the Supreme Court had refused to hear a petition in this regard filed by RTI activist Subash Mohapatra who sought transfer of the case from Orissa High Court to Delhi High Court.
