Dreaded Maoist gets 10 years imprisonment in Rayagada

Rayagada: The Rayagada District and Sessions Judge court today awarded 10 years of rigorous imprisonment (RI) to dreaded Maoist Gembali Chinarao alias Santu in two cases.

The court also slapped a penalty of Rs 50,000 on him. In default of payment of the fine, Santu would spend six months more in jail. The court pronounced the judgement after examining seven witnesses.

It may be mentioned here the Rayagada police had arrested Santu from Phulkana forest during a raid on May 7, 2013. The cops had also seized a 9 mm pistol, 9 detonators, five gelatins, two kg ammonium nitrate and other materials from his possession.
