Bhubaneswar: The General Administration (GA) department has sought a progress report on implementation of the recommendations of the Task Force on the allocation of flats/plots/houses under the discretionary quota (DQ) from the investigating agencies and concerned departments of the State government.
A letter in this regard has been issued by the GA department to the departments of Vigilance, Finance, Urban Development, Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA), Cuttack Development Authority (CDA) and Orissa State Housing Board Corporation.
The department has asked the concerned officials to furnish the ‘required information’ by April 11.
Official sources said the reports of the departments will be reviewed by chief secretary AP Padhi on April 16.
Sources added though the State government had served show cause notices to 720 out of total 1907 beneficiaries under the DQ, no action had been taken yet. Among the beneficiaries under the quota are front line politicians, including Union Minister Jual Oram, Culture minister Ashok Panda and some top bureaucrats.
BDA has served show cause notices to only 156 of the undeserving 406 beneficiaries, including Panda, BJD MLA Padmanav Behera and former minister Bimbadhar Kuanr.
Notably, in December 2014, the State government had decided to cancel all the multiple DQ allotments of plots/flats since 1995 while accepting the report of the Task Force headed by senior bureaucrat Taradatt.
