Dolphin census begins at Chilika

Berhampur: The annual dolphin census began at Chilika lake on Friday.

According sources, 26 teams comprising five members in each team, have been deployed for the head count. While, 18 teams are carrying out the census in Chilika, the remaining eight teams are cnduting the census at Chilika sea beach.

The census which began at 7 am today will conclude at noon today, sources added.

Similarly, the dolphin census also began at Gahirmatha marine sanctuary in Bhitarkanika National Park today. Nine teams comprising 25 members have been deployed at Gahirmatha for the annual census.
