Display of fitness certificate to be made mandatory in buses

Bhubaneswar: In the wake of the tragic bus mishap in Gailo Ghat in Deogarh district resulting in the death of 27 persons on April 17, the Odisha government has decided to strictly implement the provision for display of driving license, insurance and fitness certificate in every bus to ensure the safety of the passengers.

“Be it ordinary, express or deluxe bus, display of the details of the bus and the driving license of the driver would now be made mandatory. I have asked the Regional Transport Officers (RTOs) to verify all buses in the state within a month and get the details relating to the insurance and fitness of the vehicles and submit detailed reports to the government,” Commerce and Transport minister Ramesh Majhi told OTV on Wednesday.
