Devotee injured inside Puri temple, dies

Puri: A devotee from Kolkata Surjit Mallick, who was injured after falling inside Puri Jagannath temple premises, died here on Sunday.

According to reports, Surjit, along with one of his relatives Prabir Ray had come to the temple for darshan in the morning. However, he fell down and was immediately rushed to the hospital by the Sri Mandir Temple police officials present on the spot.

It is still not clear whether Surjit died on the spot or on the way to the hospital while his body would be handed over to family members only after an autopsy, police said.

Meanwhile, a probe has started into the tragic death of the devotee.
