Bhubaneswar: The Met department has predicted more rainfall in south and coastal Odisha in the next 48 hours as the well marked low pressure concentrated into a depression today.

“The well-marked low pressure formed over north Sri Lanka and its adjoining area over Gulf of Mannar and south-west Bay of Bengal yesterday, concentrated into a depression today and was lying about 1000 km south-south-west off the Gopalpur coast by 8.30 AM. Model indicator says the initial movement of the depression would be from north-north-west and subsequently towards the north along Tamil Nadu coast. Under its influence, there will be rainfall activity in Odisha for three days from May 19. Considering the wind pattern along the coast, there would be more rainfall in south and coastal Odisha. Besides, some parts of interior Odisha would remain cloudy with rainfall in one or two places during the period,” Dr Sarat Chandra Sahu, Director, Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar, told OTV.
