Deogarh bus mishap: Owner of vehicle arrested

Angul: The Deogarh Police on Friday arrested Tapan Mohanty, owner of the bus that met an accident at Gailo ghat in Deogarh last month, on charges of plying the vehicle without fitness certificate.

Mohanty had rented the bus, bearing registration number OR 05 AB 9535, to an opera party based in Deogarh. The vehicle registered under the Cuttack RTO did not have a fitness certificate.

Notably, the bus carrying an opera troupe had met a tragic accident at Gailo ghat on April 17 causing the death of 27 persons.
