Bhubaneswar: The Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) approved the reforms in the Plus Two education at its executive committee meeting today.
As per the decision taken at the meeting, the Council will conduct an examination for the first year of the Plus Two course from the current academic session, CHSE chairman Prof Basudev Chhatoi said.
Talking to OTV, he said the Higher Education department had proposed reforms in the examination for the Plus Two first year students after taking note of the fact that first year students in some private colleges were being promoted to the second year without appearing in the annual examination
“Since the first year is the fundamental component of the Plus Two course, the department had asked CHSE to bring reforms in the examination pattern which would involve conduct of regular examinations. Acting on the directive of the department, we had taken up the matter with the CHSE Examination Committee, which approved the proposal. Today, the matter was discussed at the executive committee meeting of the Council which unanimously approved the decision. The proposal would be discussed and approved at the general body meeting of Council scheduled on June 30. Thereafter, we will send our report to the state government and and wait for its approval to implement the decision,” he said.
Talking about the mode of examination for the first year students, Chhatoi said as per the recommendation of the Examination Committee, the examination pattern would be of multiple choice type. “The students will answer 50 marks of multiple choice questions on the OMR sheet for which they will be given one hour's time. The prime objective of the examination is to force the students to appear in the annual first year examination which they were skipping previously,” he pointed out.
