Nuapada/Bhubaneswar: Vigilance on Thursday raided house and office of Khariar Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Sarat Chandra Panda on charges of accumulating assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
The sleuths are conducting raids at the DFO's residence in Bhubaneswar and office at Khariar in Nuapada district.
As bank deposits of Rs 4 crore in the name of DFO and his relatives has been traced, the Vigilance has launched a probe to find out the source of the massive amount.
"Yesterday evening we got information regarding IT raid at the house of the DFO and after securing court warrant today we have begun probe. Search is underway and list of all his properties including bank fixed deposits, vehicles, plots, household articles is being prepared, Judhistir Mallick, Additional SP Vigilance of Bhubaneswar division told media persons.
"Govt will decide whether action will be taken as he is a class I officer," he added.

Earlier on Wednesday the Income Tax had raided house of the DFO after tracing undisclosed properties worth more than Rs 3.5 crore including Rs 6 lakh in new notes.
Sources said the senior forest official could not "satisfactorily" explain the source of the huge amount of black money that he had incorporated on his and other family members' names post Demonetisation.
