Bhubaneswar: The Khurda District and Sessions Judge Court today deferred the hearing on the bail plea of actor Tatwa Prakash Satapathy aka Papu Pom Pom, who was arrested on charges of sexually abusing a minor girl, till July 11 due to non-submission of the case diary by the Commissionerate Police.
The city police asked for seven days' time to submit the case diary in the court following which the hearing had to be deferred.
Notably, Papu was arrested on June 30 on charges of sexually abusing a minor girl and produced at the residential court of Khurda district and sessions judge the same day. He was sent to judicial custody as the bail plea moved by him could not be heard in the absence of case records. He was then sent to the Jharpada jail. After dodging the police for days, Papu and his aide were arrested from an apartment in Puri.
The Commissionerate Police had registered a case against Papu under Sec 354 (A), 506, 509 of IPC and Sec 8, 12 and 17 of the Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
Meanwhile, the complainant and her mother have recorded their statements at the Mahila Police station under Sec 164 of IPC.
