Bhubaneswar: BJD today alleged that the main conspirator behind Chhatrapur Councillor Laxmidutta Pradhan’s murder, Krushna Nayak has allegedly links with Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. However, BJP has refuted the allegations and accused that the murder was rather hatched by the Chhatrapur MLA Priyanshu Pradhan.
While BJD spokesperson Prashant Nanda pointed fingers towards alleged close rapport between main accused Krushna Nayak and Pradhan, BJP’s Golak Mohapatra refuted the charges and said the ruling party councillor was killed because of intra-party fighting.
Showing some photos of Krushna Nayak along with BJP leaders, Nanda stated, “The saffron party leaders used some mafias like Nayak to make the ‘Mo Booth Majboot’ campaign and therefore, they can go to any extent.”
BJP’s Mohapatra said the murder of the Chhatrapur Councillor was fallout of a rivalry between MLA Priyanshu Pradhan and the Berhampur urban local body chairman.
Mohapatra further stated, “The murderers were acquaintance of the MLA and had visited his house earlier.”
Meanwhile, the Chhatrapur legislator said CCTV footage will show who is behind the crime and a probe will reveal the conspirators.
Later in the day, DGP Rajendra Prasad Sharma said at a press meet that 12 accused have been arrested so far. The conspirators behind the crime have also been identified. The probe team is collecting evidence against them and they will be arrested soon. Political link behind the killing is also being investigated, he added.
