Bhubaneswar: The Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) on Monday trained its gun on Congress and Biju Janata Dal (BJD) accusing both parties in Odisha to have entered into a ‘secret alliance’ in the run up to the 2019 elections.
Addressing a press conference at Bhubaneswar, vice-president of Odisha unit Sameer Mohanty alleged that both the parties are now working hand-in-gloves keeping in mind 2019 elections.
“It seems that Chief Minister who is currently at New Delhi to attend a meeting will select who will be the next OPCC chief. The ruling party is looking to ride on Congress shoulders for the next elections,” Mohanty alleged.
Refuting such allegations, BJD claimed that CM’s meeting and Congress party meeting are two different matters and question of a nexus is completely baseless.
Contacted BJD spokesperson Samir Dash said, “We have come to know that Congress leaders are camping in Delhi for a meeting with vice president Rahul Gandhi to discuss their organisation and prepare strategy while CM Naveen is on a visit to New Delhi to attend the Union anti-naxal strategy meeting chaired by Home Minister Rajnath Singh.”
The BJD leader further said, ''if the BJP feels there is any nexus between us and Congress then they should have suggested the Centre to call for the meeting on any other day,” Dash averred.
