Bhubaneswar/New Delhi: The news of death of the senior Congress leader Lalatendu (Lulu) Bidyadhar Mohapatra came as a great shock to leaders across Odisha. Not only the Congress workers and followers of Lulu, but also the leaders cutting across party line expressed profound grief over the untimely death of the veteran leader, who breathed his last at Medanta Hospital in Gurgaon last night following a brain stroke with multi organ failure.
Governor SC Jamir, chief minister Naveen Patnaik, Speaker Nirankan Pujari condoled the death of Mohapatra. The CM said in his condolence message that Odisha lost a dynamic leader today.
Similarly, Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi expressed his condolence over the premature death of Mohapatra. "Saddened by the untimely demise of sr Congress leader from Odisha Shri Lalatendu Mohapatra.My heartfelt condolences to his fmly &loved ones" Gandhi mentioned in his official twitter account.
Condolence also poured in from veteran leaders across State like Leader of Opposition Narasing Mishra, BJP State president Basant Panda, AICC general secretary in-charge of Odisha Congress BK Hariprasad, PCC president Prasad Harichandan over the sad the demise of the top Congress leader.
Similarly, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan expressed profound grief over the death of Lulu. Pradhan visited the Medant hospital last night to see the former Brahmagiri legislator. "His passing away is a huge loss for Odisha political arena besides being a personal loss;my heartfelt condolences to the family", Pradhan tweeted.
Union minister Jual Oram, BJD MP Baijayant Panda,Bhubaneswar Mayor Anant Narayan Jena, ministers like Debi Mishra, Puspendra Singhdeo, Pranab Prakash Das, Sanjay Das Burma also condoled the death of Mohapatra.

Many student leaders, supporters, senior leaders and citizens of his constituency rushed to his residence and met the bereaved family.
Mohapatra, who was admitted to the ICU of Medanta Hospital after he sustained a brain stroke with multi-organ failure, passed away last night. He was 52. His body has been shifted to AIIMS, New Delhi and will be brought to Bhubaneswar in the afternoon today.

After undergoing treatment at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi for over a month, he was recently shifted to Medanta Hospital.
Born on February 14, 1964, Mohapatra was elected to the Odisha Legislative Assembly from Brahmagiri Assembly constituency in the year 1995, 2000 and 2004.
