Bhubaneswar/New Delhi: Health condition of the separated conjoined twins Jaga and Kalia is stable and is slowly improving, informed AIIMS, New Delhi officials today.
AIIMS, in a press release, stated that the condition of Jaga and Kalia is stable but they are in ICU as the duo is still sick and need to stay in ICU for 7-10 days or even more depending on need.
“The babies are slowly improving and their breathing is also good. They are looked after by Neuroanaesthetists and Neurosurgeons. Pediatric Intensive Care specialists, Pediatric Cardiologists, Pediatric Neuro and Pediatric Nephrologists are also constantly monitoring their improvement,” the release read.
Besides, Jaga has started responding to his name and is on dialysis to support his compromised kidney function, it added.

The conjoined twins were separated after a marathon surgery that lasted around 11 hours at AIIMS on October 25. A special team comprising 20 surgeons including four Odia doctors and 10 Anesthesiologists led by AK Mahapatra and other paramedical staff successfully conducted the separation surgery.
The team later conceded that it was an extremely complex case and performing the surgery was next to impossible as such condition is reported once in 2.5 million cases while the survival rate is also very minimal.
Odisha Health Minister Pratap Jena had earlier informed that Jaga was recovering faster than Kalia and had even started moving his hands.
