Bhubaneswar: The residents in twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar can expect a ‘prompt response’ from the police as Commissionerate Police on Tuesday replaced several old and worn-out vehicles from its PCR system with new equipped ones.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik flagged off 17 new PCR vehicles including five motorcycle patrolling bikes of Commissionerate Police at a special function here on Tuesday.
“More vehicles which are equipped with modern devices will enhance the capacity of the Commissionerate Police to track down criminals and control crime and provide better services to the people of twin city,” said Patnaik.

At present there are 33 light PCR vehicles in Bhubaneswar and 22 vehicles for Cuttack and it is hoped that the response time of Commissionerate police will improve with the addition of new patrolling vehicles in its fleet.
“The addition of new vehicles will certainly help in overcoming mechanical defects while the vehicles to be used for the modern control room is equipped with public address system, sirens and gadgets to know the other PCR positions,” said Police Commissioner YB Khurania.
Khurania further informed a high tech ‘enforced camera’ has been installed on the National Highway to detect traffic violations including speed limit on an experimental basis.
After reviewing its output, the Commissionerate Police will decide on procurement of the high end gadgets to streamline the existing traffic systems in the twin city, Khurania added.
