Cuttack: Even after nearly one and half months since the announcement of demonetisation of high currency notes by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in an effort to promote cashless transaction, leave alone rural areas, cashless transaction is yet to pick up in urban areas in Odisha.
One of the glaring instances is a petrol pump run by Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) which does not provide an option for cashless transaction to its customers.
Established in way back 1971, M/S Kathajodi Filling Station, located at Hanuman Ghat in Chandini Chowk area, is one of the oldest petrol pump in the Millenium City. Sadly, the petrol pump is yet to install a card swipe machine.

Sahu also said it is really a matter of utter surprise that when senior Odisha BJP leader Dharmendra Pradhan is looking after the Petroleum ministry, how come this petrol pump in the city has failed to instal a card swipe machine till date.
Talking to odishatv.in, Ganesh Chandra Behera, manager of the petrol pump, said, “We have applied to the State Bank of India and the UCO Bank to provide us the card swipe machines. As soon as we get them from these two banks, we will install them at the filling station forthwith.”
