Jajpur: Chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday laid the foundation stone for a road connecting Nagada with Ashokjharu, both in mineral rich Jajpur district. Recently Nagada hogged newspaper headlines for child deaths due to malnutrition.
The foundation stone for the project costing around Rs 13 crore was laid in Kaliapani.
“Now we are receiving drinking water and food after government intervention. The new roads will prove even more beneficial to us,” said a Nagada resident.
Moreover, the CM also laid the foundation stone for a girls’ hostel to be built at a cost of Rs 7 crore near Deogaon. Naveen also inaugurated a slew of developmental projects worth Rs 260 crore in the region.

On the other hand, Congress activists waved black flags during the CM’s visit in protest. As many as 52 persons were detained for the same.
“I am delighted to have visited Jajpur district today for a number of welfare schemes and developmental programs for the local people,” said CM Naveen.
