Bhubaneswar: Commissionerate Police on Saturday arrested a city-based real estate businessman for allegedly having links with a chit fund company.
According to sources, Satyabrata Dhir, owner of Trishna Builders, who owns multiple residential and commercial properties in and around Bhubaneswar, was arrested from his residence at IRC Village in Nayapalli area here.
Dhir was arrested for duping people of above Rs 20 lakh, police said.
This apart, the police also added that there was an allegation against the builder of duping people of Rs 20 crore.
“I had booked a 3-BHK flat and also paid Rs 8 lakh phase wise. They told me to hand over the flat on June 14, 2014 but they didn’t. Following this, I had visited their office and sites and asked to return the money which they didn’t and not responded to my requests also. Finally, I took the help of law,” said Biswakesana Das, a complainant.

It may be noted here that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which is investigating the multi-crore chit fund scam in Odisha, had already grilled Dhir several times in connection with his alleged links with Artha Tatwa (AT) Group, a major player in the multi-crore chit fund scam.
