Bhubaneswar: The CBSE today submitted the result sheets of 18 students to the court even as the fate of others has hanged in balance amid the controversy surrounding the discrepancies in marking of Plus-II answer sheets.
These 18 students can check their results on Monday while others have decided to file mass petition in Orissa High Court on the same day.
The matter has snowballed into a fresh controversy after CBSE sent an email to 18 students, who had filed petition in the HC, asking them to apply for re-evaluation for a maximum of 10 questions per subject on Friday evening.
Along with the email, the board had attached a photocopy of the answer sheets that the students had applied for re-evaluation. The students were asked to apply for re-evaluation of maximum 10 questions from each subject. Adding to the students’ woes, the board asked them to submit their request by 11.59 pm online through rocbsebbsr@rediffmail.com, leaving hardly two hours for them to complete the process.
This triggered strong resentment among the students and the parents as they were confused as to how they will consider and select 10 questions from each subject for rechecking in such a short time.
"If the CBSE takes too much time to re-evaluate the papers, how can we complete the task it has given to us, within two hours," said Nilima Pryadarshini, a student.
The guardians said that the board has admitted the lapses. "It accepted the irregularities indirectly. However, the board has informed us that it will not move the Supreme Court against the High Court ruling," said Sudarshan Das, convenor of guardian association.
The High Court had earlier directed the board authorities to re-evaluate the answer sheets of the 18 students, who had filed the petition at the court, and announce the results by today.
On the other hand, parents’ forum under the banner of Odisha Abhibhabak Mahasangha along with some students met Odisha State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (OSCPCR) seeking intervention in the matter.
The Commission Chairperson heard the cases and assured them to look in to the matter. She said a show cause notice has been served to the CBSE and the matter will be brought to the notice of NCRC, she added.
