Bhubaneswar: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has searched the bank lockers of Rajya Sabha MP Pyari Mohan Mohapatra’s wife and daughter, the keys of which were taken by the agency during a raid last year.

Confirming the news, Mohapatra today said, “The CBI sleuths opened the lockers in presence of the concerned bank officials yesterday. Nothing was found except some jewellery of my wife and daughter.”

The agency officials weighed the jewellery and prepared a list, he added.

The former BJD leader further said, “I only had requested them (CBI) on November 18 to open both the lockers. But they did not pay any heed to that. When I wrote to CBI SP Manish Kumar Sinha requesting again to open both the lockers in the presence of their officials, the search was conducted yesterday.”

“My public image was at stake. Besides, my wife and daughter could not use the jewellery kept in the lockers as the keys were with the CBI. That’s why I had urged the CBI SP to open it at the earliest,” Mohapatra told mediapersons.
