Bhubaneswar: After the media highlighted the issue of many students with very low scores in the Odisha Joint Entrance Examination (OJEE) transferring to the College of Engineering and Technology (CET), Bhubaneswar, on health grounds, Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT) board on Wednesday hurriedly convened a meeting here to discuss the matter.

The board would also discuss whether guidelines were followed during this kind of admission into the premiere government technical college through transfers, sources said.

Besides, delays in issuing certificates to students of the city-based Regional College of Management (RCM) and irregularities in the publication of semester results in several technical colleges would come up for discussion, they added.

Meanwhile, BPUT authorities said that a student can transfer to any college on health grounds. “If both the colleges give their consent, then a student can get a transfer,” BPUT registrar MR Nayak had said.

Odisha JEE sources said a student must have a rank within 1000 to get admitted to CET. However, many students, even after getting a rank beyond 3500 are studying in the premier government institute after getting transfers in the 2012-13 academic session.
