Bolangir: In another ghastly manifestation of superstition, a man on Wednesday hacked his sister with a sword to death and later went on to claim it was an act of human sacrifice to appease village goddess in Dangaghata village under Bolangir sadar police limits in the district.
As per allegations, Tripura Mallick of Dangaghata village brutally hacked his sister Rangabati Mallick and danced frenziedly on the village streets. What was even more startling that the accused went on to face the camera to remorselessly describe the heinous act.
“She brought some men and came to kill me. Then I killed her as human sacrifice. I had to sacrifice my sister to live happily,” said accused Tripura.

Revealing chilling details of what transpired, a villager said that Tripura ran amok dancing on the streets and shouting ‘One head had rolled; four more to go.’
Police reached the spot with a forensic team to conduct an investigation into the matter. Police arrested Mallick and the sword used in the crime has been seized.
“From the preliminary investigations, the accused could have some mental illness or might have acted out of sudden provocation,” said IIC of Sadar Police Station, Bolangir, Anand Chandra Majhi.
