Body of newborn girl found on road

Phulbani: The body of a newborn girl was found on the roadside in Mundiasahi near Phulbani hospital this morning.

Locals first spotted the body being dragged by a stray dog. Fearing that the dog might maul her, they informed police. "I saw the stray dog dragging the newborn's body beside the road." said Kuni Diggal, a resident of Mundiasahi.

"After receiving information, we reached the spot and recovered the body. An unnatural death case has been registered and post mortem will be carried out. Investigation into the matter is on," informed Phulbani police station IIC Rebati Shabar .

In another incident, locals of Ghatagaon in Keonjhar district rescued a newborn boy from nearby Kusunapur forests in a critical condition and admitted him to the Primary Health Centre.
