Cuttack: Fire Services personnel recovered the bodies of three students who drowned while taking bath in Mahanadi river at Gadagadia Ghat on the outskirts of the city this afternoon.
The bodies have been identified as those of Srusti Pal, Sandeep Kumar and Pritam Priyadarshi, all of them students of National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) in Bhubaneswar.
Reports said the three students, who had come to the city on a fun trip this morning, went to Gadagadia Ghat for a bath. While taking bath, they slipped into deep waters. Some locals present at the spot tried their best to rescue them but in vain as the students were swept away by the strong current.
Following information, Fire Services personnel rushed to the spot. After an hour-long search operation, they fished out the bodies of the three students. While one of the students was already dead, the two other students were rushed to SCB Medical College and Hospital where the doctors pronounced them ‘brought dead’.
