Bhubaneswar: After Gujarat assembly election, the BJP seems to be reassessing its claims of winning 120 or more seats in Odisha since its calculations went awry in the ‘Modi’fied state.
The saffron party which had set a target of 150 seats in Gujarat before the election, managed to grab only 99. The party said the magic number to form government in Odisha is 74. "If the ratio of Gujarat is taken into account, we would get 78 seats in Odisha and can form government," said Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan while responding to a query during OTV's 20th anniversary celebration in Delhi recently.
Pradhan's fresh statement has brought twist in party president Amit Shah's 'Mission 120'. BJD, however, disapproved the new number of Pradhan.
"We still doubt whether they retain their existing seats. They had told earlier 120 seats but now it has come down to 78. Just wait, their number will decrease further to 10. Because, they believe in speech, not in work," BJD spokesperson Pratap Deb said.
Congress too echoed similar views. "In only one blow, they have come down to 78 from 120. What would be their situation during election is well envisaged," senior Congress leader Ramachandra Khuntia said.
