Bhubaneswar: In a major poll plank, the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) today announced to launch its State-wide ‘Jana Sampark Padayatra’ from the Capital city tomorrow.
Addressing a press meet here at the party headquarters, BJD vice president and Rajya Sabha member Prasanna Acharya said the party will kick off the Padayatra from Monday, Gandhi Jayanti, and continue till October 11, birth anniversary of Jayaprakash Narayan.
"Just like last year, we will launch our Jana Sampark Padayatra from tomorrow. It's not new for us or for the people of Odisha as we have been organising it annually since the last two decades. The event will not only see participation of BJD party members but also people from across the State will be joining with great enthusiasm," said Acharya.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will launch the Padayatra, which will traverse almost all the districts across the State, starting from Behera Sahi area of Mahishakhal slum in the city.
Earlier in 2016, CM Naveen had launched the annual padayatra at Jadumali village near Samantarapur Nugaon here on October 2 and highlighted the step-motherly attitude of the Narendra Modi-led BJP government towards the State, slashing of Central assistances to various schemes and the Mahanadi and Polavaram issues.
