Bhubaneswar: With the BJP gearing up to review state government's role in implementing Central schemes in Odisha during the party’s National Executive Meet on April 15 and 16 here, the latter is rallying its forces to take on the Centre protesting decline in kerosene quota of the state.
The BJD has decided to organise a state-wide stir on the issue starting from Aril 10. It will stage protests in front of Raj Bhawan on April 10 followed by protests at RDC offices of Berhampur and Sambalpur on April 11 and 12 respectively.
Addressing a press conference here, state Supplies Minister Sanjay Dasburma said “In spite of regular demands from the state government, the Centre has been waywardly cutting short the share of the kerosene instead of increasing fuel quota as per the rise in demands of the people of the state, which is very disappointing,”
“So we have decided to hit the streets demanding revamp of the quota amount and supply of non-PDS kerosene to beneficiaries who are not under the National Food Security Act,” Dasburma said.
"We further demand that public institutions be also provided kerosene and supply of PDS kerosene to state government organisations dealing with emergency services also ensured," the minister said adding “we also demand that the Centre should restore the non-PDS kerosene quota of the state.”
As per information, last year the state had to bear a 25 per cent decline in the supply of Kerosene.
