Bhubaneswar: BJD MP Balabhadra Majhi today shot a letter to Niti Aayog Vice-Chairman Rajiv Kumar urging him to include Nabarangpur district in the list of Aspirational Districts.
In the letter, Majhi mentioned of Nabarangpur being the most backward Parliamentary Constituency in India where 55% of total population is Scheduled Tribe, 15% is Scheduled Caste and about 20% is OBC.
Pointing out various parameters, he stated that there is hardly 40 km of railway line in the district. The Constituency spreads over a length of 370 kms, while hardly 25% of its cultivated land in irrigated. This apart, Nabarangpur’s per capita income is about Rs 25000, he added.
Speaking about other issues, Majhi stated that majority of the people in the district are infested by malnutrition and about 700 villagers are not connected by all-weather roads.
Citing that the district stands lowest in almost all parameters of development, the MP urged Rajiv Kumar to include Nabarangpur in the list of Aspirational District Scheme.
