Bhubaneswar: BJD’s Choudwar-Cuttack MLA Prabhat Biswal, who was arrested by CBI in connection with the Seashore chit fund scam was sent to Jharpara jail today.
Though the CBI court on Tuesday had sent Biswal on a 4-day remand for further interrogation in connection with the Seashore chit fund scam, he was produced before the court by the central investigating agency today - a day earlier than the expiry of his remand period.
According to sources, the jail superintendent has been instructed to conduct a health examination following which a decision will be taken to shift Biswal to hospital or not.
Immediately after his arrest on Monday, Biswal's lawyer Anup Senapati had said that the legislator will soon file a bail petition in court on health grounds as he underwent a surgery recently. Even a team of doctors from Capital Hospital had examined Biswal’s health at the CBI office on Tuesday and had found symptoms of high blood pressure.
On the other hand, it is believed that Biswal might face interrogation by Enforcement Directorate (ED) after the Joint Director and Assistant Director of the agency visited the CBI office today and met some senior officials.
