Bhubaneswar: In the back drop of Sushant Nayak’s murder at Bankual village and forged withdrawal of nomination in Penthapala panchayat of Pattamundai in Kendrapara district, the State BJP today accused the ruling BJD of backing all such incidents triggering law and order situation in State.
“Now, violence has become the main weapon of BJD to grab power. Sushant Nayak, a resident of Bankual village under Basuaghai panchayat on the outskirts of the city was beaten to death by some youths who are supported by BJD. The allegation has been levelled by his brother with lodging FIR with police. It indicates that BJD has gone mad for power”, State BJP vice-president Sameer Mohanty told a media conference today.
He alleged that the ruling party has supported all these erring activities including the murder of Sarapanch candidate in Mohana, torching shops and houses in Kishore Nagar. The regional party has also utilised its power in Pattamundai and Nuapada to make its own party Samity members as block chairman.
“In a bid to make its own party samity member as block chairman, BJD made withdrawal of nomination of two dalit women candidates in Pattamundai without informing the concerned candidates. The party also did same thing in Nuapada”, Mohanty alleged.
When crimes took place only 6/7 kilometre away from Naveen Niwas and Secretariat, how a free and fair polls would be expected? he questioned.
The dafrron party also questioned the double standard of the BJD supremo over induction of cine star Uttam Mohanty into party.
“The chief minister ordered the Crime Branch to probe the Oscar chit fund scam and on the other hand he inducted cine star Uttam Mohanty into his party, who is under the purview of Crime Branch investigation for his alleged link with the ponzi firm. Naveen Niwas and BJD has come forward to protect all chit fund accused”, party spokesperson Sajjan Sharma said.
Alleging that the promise made by the CM to ensure refund of money to chit fund victims has gone for toss, Sharma said the government has already forgotten the corpus fund promise it had made earlier. “He (CM) had promised in a public meeting in Balasore that a corpus fund would be created through which the chit fund victims would get back their hard earned money. Where is his corpus fund?” Sharma asked. BJD is keen on giving shelter to the people who have looted the hard earned money of the lakhs of innocent citizens, he said.
