Bhubaneswar: As per Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision, Odisha will be the gateway of development in the East while Bhubaneswar will be focal point of development in the State, said Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan here on Saturday.
Speaking on the occasion of inauguration of second entry gate of Bhubaneswar railway station, Pradhan informed that the Civil Aviation Ministry has submitted a proposal to Odisha government for allotment of land for a second airport in Bhubaneswar.
"Prime Minister Narendra Modi has special plans for expansion of National Highways, better air connectivity, development of railways in Odisha and Bhubaneswar will be its focal point. There is a need to convert Bhubaneswar into an International City," said Pradhan.
Pradhan further stated that until efforts are taken to develop areas in Kakatpur, Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Tangi, Choudwar, new economic progress is Odisha cannot be achieved.
The BJP government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has allotted funds for development of railway projects in Odisha which were neglected by previous governments at the Centre.
It is after a long time that focus of railways is now on Odisha and the State government needs to cooperate in speeding up the pending projects here.
"There are plans to come up with a foot over bridge worth Rs 6 crores at Bhubaneswar railway station and two new ring roads," Pradhan added.
