Bhubaneswar: People across Odisha have already started experiencing heatwave-like conditions from the first week of March with the Capital city Bhubaneswar recording the second highest temperature in the country on Sunday.
Besides Bhubaneswar, Angul, Jharsuguda and Baripada were also listed among the 10 hottest places in India.
The mercury remained above 37 degree Celsius at 13 places in the State. The maximum temperature of 39.7 degree Celsius was recorded in Angul followed by Titlagarh, which recorded a maximum temperature of 46.5 degrees Celsius. Bhubaneswar recorded a maximum temperature of 39.2 degree Celsius.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has informed that while the sky is clear, there are chances of fog formation in Bhubaneswar and nearby areas.
On the other hand, the IMD predicted that districts like Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Puri, Ganjam, Balasore, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj are likely to experience nor'wester till March 9.
Besides, one or two places will experience rainfall with wind speed between 50 and 60 km/hr, added the IMD.
