Bhadrak: After registering a case with Cyber Crime police station under Sections 153(A) and 295 (A), the Cyber Cell of Crime Branch has today begun probe into the rumours being spread on social media platforms like WhatsApp and Facebook which fuelled the communal tension in Bhadrak town.

Special director general of police (Crime) BK Sharma said the Cyber Cell is investigating into the misuse of social media following the Bhadrak riot. People have been asked to supply credible information related to the spread of rumours and miscreants involved in spreading the hate messages.

The cyber police cell has also sought details from WhatsApp group administrators. IP addresses of the laptops and computers being used for spreading such rumours will also be tracked down.

Meanwhile, Tihidi Inspector-In-Charge (IIC) Manoj Rout has replaced Bhadrak Town IIC Jadunath Jena.

After a considerable improvement in the law and order situation in the town, curfew was lifted from 8 am to 11 am today. However, it was reimposed till 7 am tomorrow. Besides, all educational institutions will remain closed tomorrow in Bhadrak.
