Puri: A gang of girls sporting jeans and t-shirts along with some women found begging near Gundicha temple in Puri were detained by police today. The incident came to light when the girls fled the spot after seeing an approaching police control room (PCR) van near Gundicha Temple.
Later on it was found out that the girls who are from Odaba near Ahmedabad in Gujarat were seeking alms from passersby with the help of a printed leaflet citing they had lost everything in a cyclone.
Before the cops arrived, they had already had got assistance from Rs 200 to Rs 500 from the nearby people who were reportedly taken in by their attire and articulation.
However, the girls were detained by police for questioning and till last reports came in police were making arrangements to deport back the girls and women to their hometown in Gujarat via train.
