Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today assured appropriate action in connection with the attack on the official residence of his private secretary V. Karthikeyan Pandian.
The response of Patnaik came after a delegation of State government employees, including members of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS) and Odisha Administrative Service (OAS) associations in Odisha met him and demanded stringent action against the culprits.
"Many associations from all over the State have given me petitions regarding this unfortunate incident. Appropriate action will be taken," said Patnaik.
It was also alleged that there has been an increase in attack on government officials. Odisha Police Association also sought new guidelines for protection of government employees.
"We requested the CM that swift and exemplary action should be taken in this case to ensure that such incidents do not happen in future and government employees can discharge their duties in a free and fair manner. He has assured to take appropriate action in this matter," said Secretary of IAS Association, Vishal Dev.
Odisha Secretariat Service Association also organised a meeting in the Secretariat today in protest of the attack on the official residence of Pandian.
Earlier on February 10, some BJP activists holding party flags had barged into Pandian’s residence and ransacked the flower pots. The protesters also damaged vehicles inside the quarters and hurled cow dung. They also allegedly thrashed the security guard deployed in the quarters.
