Attack on ambulance staff: Locals oppose detention of 3 villagers, block road

Angul: Tension prevailed after locals blocked road near Phulapada in Angul protesting police detention of three villagers over their alleged involvement in the attack on ambulance staff.

Earlier, a mob had thrashed an ambulance driver soon after a girl was rescued in an unconscious condition from roadside on November 18.

The girl was reportedly injured after she had jumped off a moving ambulance after suspecting ‘ill intentions’ of its driver and other male occupants near Phulpada.

The girl was returning to Angul after admitting one of her ailing relatives at a private hospital in Cuttack.

Irate over the incident, locals then had detained another ambulance passing on the same route and attacked its driver and other employees.

The locals today staged demonstration after police detained three persons for questioning after registering cases against 60 persons in connection with the attack on ambulance staff.
