Bhubaneswar: The CBI today filed the charge-sheet against former Youth Congress president of Odisha unit in special CJM court today in the multi-crore Artha Tatwa chit fund scam.
The central investigating agency also named the former director of the AT group Md Haniff in the charge-sheet. This is the fourth charge-sheet filed by the probe sleuths in the case.
CBI officials had arrested Choudhury in July this year his for alleged involvement in the case.
Choudhary had allegedly held power of attorney for a property belonging to the Artha Tatwa Group, allegedly a key player in the multi-crore scam. The property was later sold for Rs 94 lakh.
While he is also alleged to have taken money and a vehicle from Pradip Sethy, chief of Aartha Tatwa group and a key accused, the Youth Congress leader was under the CBI scanner for his suspicious role in the sale of two flats in Bhubaneswar worth over Rs 80 lakh.
Notably, the chit-fund company defrauded 187 investors to the tune of Rs 6.5 crore. It was mentioned in the preliminary charge-sheet.
Investigating team had earlier seized movable and immovable properties of the company including lands, flats and luxury cars worth Rs 200 cr. The police had also frozen over 200 bank accounts of the company in 12 nationalised banks. It was mentioned that original sale deeds of 230 acres of land owned by the group in Bhubaneswar, Jatni, Khurda, Balasore, Remuna, Angul, Pipli, Tangi have also been seized.
